When God Sends Good Samaritans
Hello again everyone! I have been so encouraged and thrilled as I
have heard news that so many of you have been following this blog! I
looked at the traffic tracking out of curiosity and my blog had over 900
views last month! I also have been averaging 3-5 views a day. That is a
major thing for me as I have never done that well with my writing.
Thank you to everyone who has been keeping up on us and reading! I
really appreciate the support. Always glad to hear from my readers too
so please leave a comment! Would love to hear from those who are reading this. :)
I sent Jason off this morning for his first day of
work. Such a handsome attorney! I am so blessed!
To get back to newlywed chain of events...
We
were in desperate need of food and our cable package was in so we
called up Jason's local friend from Penn State who lives nearby.
She
kindly helped us out! First took us to the cable company to pick up our
cable package I had pre-arranged. We then went to the local mall to
make a craigslist exchange for a modem and router. It was like $40 for
both and what we had researched is a modem alone is even more than that!
You take a chance with craigslist but often you come out on top
anyway.
Our friend then took us to go on our first grocery
shopping trip! We do not have a Kroger in this area so that was
strange! Also the prices of groceries are more here than back home.
Taxes are high too. I heard that there are discount stores around here
as it's a Mennonite and Amish area. They just love their
discount and wholesale stores. We just hadn't discovered them yet at
this point so the first grocery bill to last us a few weeks was not as
cheap as I knew I could do.
The experience shopping at a place called
"Giant's" was interesting. It was comparable to Kroger in its set up,
but not Kroger in the least. When we set up the cable and internet, the
modem worked like a charm but we had a few days of frustration with the
router. Eventually after trial and error, I determined that I might have
blown it by using the wrong adapter..they weren't marked..
Got online
and used a coupon and took advantage of Best Buy's specials on routers.
No kidding. Got our new one for about $20 and used some more wedding
money for this. I gambled and lost $20 but still got a router for
cheaper than in the store. These usually cost about $70 or $80. I'd say
that it's a win. :)
The next day ANOTHER local friend who was a little farther away from the first one was gracious
enough to take us to Uhaul to drop it off and we went on a household products shopping spree!
We found alot of great things for super cheap at the local Walmart and The Dollar Tree.
I am quite pleased with what we found. My favorite part of the house
that week was to decorate the kitchen. Don't my Farberware (seriously
spellchecker?) red pots and pans look simply divine? :) Working with
what I already had or was given, I think this all came together in theme
colors for my kitchen. :) Now of course a kitchen in Lancaster isn't
complete without a good Amish and Mennonite cookbook now is it?
Oooh
yeah and if you didn't know the secret to marital bliss, Jason totally
found it at Goodwill. Cheap too! I tell ya that place has EVERYTHING!
:D
Over and out!
