Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

6:15 PM

From Thanksgiving to Black Friday weekend, to a time having friends over from out of town, this one has been a busy five days!

A sweet family in our church had us over to spend Thanksgiving with them this year. It was great getting to know them better and playing active games of ping pong, air hockey, and pool with them! I also tried my hand at making a green bean casserole and Jason made a scrumptious juicy, flavorful pineapple and brown sugar glazed ham. My green bean casserole was their son's favorite. He never had had it before, but was devouring it! Thank you family for introducing this to me! :D

We had so much food and selection!

Friday we stayed home to relax, hang out with each other, and prep for our visitor's the next day. No Black Friday shopping for us! I thought about attempting it for a few things, but then thought better of it. :P On Saturday though, we hit a few different stores and really scored some comparable Black Friday prices!

  • 2 black leggings and a dark blue pair (finally!): $15, $5 each at TJMaxx
  • A Queen size sheet set: $10.79 at Ollie's. (Was originally $11.99 but the package was torn so I got a discount. Little frugal tip there. ;) )
  • Olive green and cream plastic tablecloth with felt backing: $2.79 on sale: Ollie's. If you haven't been to Ollie's, I find they beat Walmart prices all the time.
  • Two red taper candles from the Dollar Tree
  • 2 Dollar Tree oven mitts (not pictured) because all the cooking we do is wearing out the other ones.)
  • And the display is free with some Christmas ribbon, candle holders, and flowers I have. Ta da!

Last night, some of Jason's friends from college were in town. We arranged for them to come over for dinner and games. We had a very good time! This was my first dinner party where I cooked for 4 instead of 2. A bit of a challenge, but managed it with flying colors! I regret that I didn't take pictures of the meal beforehand. We had an Italian Baked Penne Casserole that was a hit with a side of garlic bread. Afterwards we enjoyed some apple pie from a box. :P

An older word game called Probe. Jason won this one.
"Juxtaposed" and "Acquittal" were our words. :)

It was a fun filled weekend and we have so many crazy things happening in December that I can't wait to blog about! This is going to be a full month ahead with unusual events happening that we will be part of for the first time ever.

We will be so busy this month that we aren't going to put up a tree this year or pull out all the decorations since there won't be much enjoying it. I have set up a few things here and there, but the goal is to just keep the house ready for any guests that might stop by during this social season. Most of our fun will be going out and visiting other's homes as we have been invited to several parties and events. Even going to be part of some of them. Will reveal that later. So enjoy everything Christmasy as you prepare for our next big holiday!

Now back to my book. Yes, I have begun reading again which was a pre New Year's resolution I wanted to get a head start on. Have a great evening, morning, or afternoon!
