Downtown Lititz in the Summer and Winter!

2:48 PM

Back in September was my birthday. It was the strangest birthday I have ever had! Being married for one with a new family and in a different state. No fireworks, no family get togethers. Just me and my husband. It was rather different than I'm used to for sure! Plus because we had no car at the time we were stuck inside for about a month. An unusual type of honeymoon.

Jason made me a nice breakfast in bed of my favorite: milk toast. If you haven't ever heard of this it's literally toast with butter and pepper. You pour warm milk over it and then let the toast absorb it. It's really delicious even though most think it sounds gross haha. Now I can't have it because of a dairy intolerance. Real bummer!

After breakfast we spent the afternoon working on a new song I had written a couple days earlier. I need to revisit that so I don't forget it!

To kinda make up for this day, after church the next Sunday, we drove to Lititz, PA a charming little town with shops and restaurants. It was a beautiful day so we went there and celebrated in a way, my birthday, Jason's first day of work, our one month anniversary, and overall things looking up for us.

We very much enjoyed it!

Lititz In the Summer

Standing in the heart of downtown Lititz.

Found this on our walk. :)

What on earth could these be?

They are painted porcelain sinks!! I think it would be cool to have one of these one day.

These guys were kinda creepy so I decided to be creepy with them.
O_o

Oh and please don't feed the stuffed bears...they've already eaten...

Getting some icecream from a local ice-cream parlor.

This quaint little fountain was a memorial by a church with names of those
who supported the funding of it in bricks on the ground.
We sat on a bench nearby like the one in this picture and ate our ice-cream.
The perfect little date. :)

The happy very newlyweds. :)

So THAT was our Lititz trip in the Summer.

Lititz In the Winter

This month in December we were asked with one week notice if we could help out in a local shop here in downtown Lititz as a ministry opportunity.
She goes to our church and sells out of her home. Pretty neat concept!

Being the fun loving people we are and the adventurous type, we agreed (Jason reluctantly) and went for it! We had to stop at a local Party City to pick up a few extras for our outfits like these white suspenders and my fantastic stockings!

Without further ado, meet the Christmas Elves of "Back Home Again" home and garden shop (it is now closed as the owner has had exciting new life developments) sharing the story of Jesus through gold stars, warm smiles, and friendly conversation!

You may be asking, "What do elves have to do with the Jesus Christmas story?" We really have no clue, but we were asked to be them so we decided on going for the classy elf look. We were going to try to get away with looking more like Lord of the Rings epic elves. That didn't fly with the one in charge...

Me all prepared to share a little tidbit of the story of Jesus through my basket of stars for the children who would come by with green balloons on their bags. :)

The kids really loved these stars. They were a hit though it rained sooo we didn't get as many kids as we hoped.

While I manned the stars and made conversation with the customers, my adorable little elf of a husband did what he does best, braving the cold as he drew kids and families into the shop with his cheerful smile, enthusiastic waves, and warm Christmas greetings.

Gotta say we make a pretty good team. ;)

He says he didn't care for the gig, but I would beg to differ from how much he was enjoying himself.
Isn't he just the cutest??

It was great to get to serve together in this way even if we were in elf costumes haha. Gotta start somewhere!

I am hoping that we will explore Downtown Lititz a little more during this Christmas season. We didn't really get to go around and see any of the other shops inside cause it was raining so hard and we weren't dressed the warmest, but hopefully we can take a trip out on a Saturday or something. (It's closed down on Sunday). I hope to take some more pictures of the charm of this place. I have heard at night that it is dazzling with Christmas lights. :)

We have more exciting things happening the coming weeks that we will be doing and be part of. Can't wait to blog about it! I'm waiting on some pictures from an event earlier than this one which I hope to crank out by next week or so. So stay tuned! Thanks for reading and following! I love hearing from my readers so comments are always welcome!
