The Love/Hate Relationship of Technology

3:44 PM

I have a love hate relationship with my own technology.

I had an entirely new blog post written out to piggy back on the last one since I have done an awful job keeping updates coming. It was long, had pictures and everything. It was on the previous post at first till I realized that it probably was getting too long and could work as one of its own so I thought, "I might as well just cut this whole thing and put it in a new post."

I cut it and finished up one sentence. ONE SENTENCE so I could finish up the other post. I then thought, "I need a "^_^" and absentmindedly cut one from another section of the page and pasted it at the end of the ONE SENTENCE. Then it hit me like a sunken rock at the bottom of a river. I lost the entire cut post. Now "^_^" will forever remind me of an entire 15 minutes of writing AND PHOTOS that have vanished off into a cyber black hole!

Allow me a minute to recompose myself.

Ok, I'm back. I almost didn't attempt to do this again, but quitting never solves anything or gets anyone anywhere. I am choosing to be courageous and face the pain...let's hope I have a good memory today...

This week has been one full of action and accomplishment. For kicks, I tried my hand at baking!

Bahahaha! Like I would do that for kicks...psssh.

ACTUALLY, we had some apples going bad thanks to my brilliant storage solution of putting fruit on top of the fridge. Bad idea. Rots em and ripens em faster than you can say fruit basket, not that you would say that on the regular. Thankfully I had some brown sugar on hand as well as oats and cinnamon so it made sense to attempt to make my first apple crisp.

I substituted vanilla extract for vanilla almond milk, and extra brown sugar and cinnamon for nutmeg. It turned out tasty! Surprised even me haha.
My second cooking venture this week was to make something gooey to eat! I have been craving sauce since we have been making so many sauceless meals for Jason's appetite preferences so I shared my plight and patheticness with him, and he encouraged me to make 1-2 meals a week that I would enjoy and he would just eat hotdogs or whatever else is quick and easy to throw together the other nights. I guess that's a win win? We had a few mushrooms left and some spinach leaves to finish up so I made this mushroom soup, fettuchini, spinach, mushroom concoction. Ohmaword. It was mouthwatering and satisfied the depths of my stomach's cravings.
I finished off the rest of the mushroom soup to fill my second meal a week quota with a tuna noodle casserole. Equally DELISH.
Jason humored me and ate it too washing it down the next day with his own cooked barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. That man cracks me up.

Although we are in the midst of frigid frozen temperatures, I have begun spring cleaning early to get rid of cabin fever setting in. I have joined Flylady groups where I am learning good habits to help keep my house organized and clean without the burden of constant cleaning. I know that may sound unusual, but it's amazing what maintaining habits do for your home!

I figure I'd move spring cleaning to other things in my life too. Why not right? With the help of my husband, we created a spreadsheet for our financial expenses and savings. We are now able to track everything we spend and save from our budget and it's all calculated automatically. This also helps in keeping track of bills. I love having everything financial in one place! I can already see the frustration of disorganization and confusion melting away.

Aaaahhh.....

Joining spring cleaning cabin fever, is my lovely mac laptop. I am so OVER IT. For awhile now it has slowed down and is operating at a snail pace no matter what I do with it. To solve this I have been cleaning it out, going through my files and folders and trashing what I don't need anymore. I've also been reorganizing EVERYTHING from things on my computer to account emails.

Because I'm so interested in this field, I have been taking online classes for macs on youtube. One is offered by a guy who was on Shark Tank! I am learning a plethora of information about my own mac. Who knew how much could be done with it! I plan on after cleaning it out to satisfaction, restoring it back to factory settings and installing Yosemite. If that doesn't work in bringing my older mac back to life, might be worth starting to save up for a newer one. I am an honest Apple fan. :)

Along with my taking care of my own, I have been helping some family members and friends with their computers. By the way, I have started a little business venture of mobile computer troubleshooting. Basically if you have a computer (windows or mac) that you're about to chuck off a cliff and don't know what to do with it, or viruses, or spyware issues, or slow running issues, I can troubleshoot it for you over the phone or online and help you towards a diagnosis or help you fix it altogether.

I also troubleshoot connecting devices to a computer like printers and getting your apple and windows products to work along with your pcs and laptops if you're having trouble with that as well. I've been successful with a few recent ones and others in the past so if this is you, send me a message, email, Facebook shout. Whichever works best for you!

Other accomplishments recently...

Made a homemade facial scrub with salt, olive oil, and honey.
*Note to self* Use sugar next time.

Found a couple more winning recipes with the hubs:

Onion and apple seared pork chops:
Restaurant style baked potatoes which I stuffed with bacon bits, cheese, and broccoli. Yum!

And this is a strawberry, peanut butter, and tortilla snack I made one day for myself:
Me cooking in the kitchen is a big deal for those who know my *sarcasm* love for it.

Lastly, been helping out another military couple who is moving here in March find a place to live!
We have been corresponding and I'm very excited that I will have a friend here for a little while whose husband is also going through TBS.

This weekend in the next four days we have some exciting things coming up. I will take pictures and share as usual in my next post which will probably be next week. I think I'm done writing for awhile. I'm newer to consistent blogging so I'm just learning as I go along. Thanks for being there with me. :)

  2. Haha! Too cute! :D I much prefer the smaller signature. It doesn't throw me off guard as the larger one did.

  4. Tortilla, peanut butter, and strawberries? Might want to add a few chocolate bar squares next time for a real kick.
