Cherry Blossom Festival/Washington DC Trip

11:12 PM

It has been a full week and much has happened. I can't wait to dig into writing the happenings of this month, but first I wanted to get to our Washington trip! I finally got to sit down for a few days and edit photos this week and have been experimenting, along with trial and error, resizing photos for best quality during upload while still being able to collage. Sometimes I lose quality when I collage. (Would love some feedback on everything photos!)

It's frustrating, but I think once I have a good system down and added to my format layouts for my blog, it will come easier each time. Sometimes you just have to put in the hard work to get the results. At first I wasn't going to do my traditional framing on them, but as I was going through them, groups began to form in my head and the organizer in me just couldn't bear to not have them all cutely grouped together into a collage/gallery. (It's utterly hopeless).
Anyway, I think I got them to where I want them and I'll throw in some of my favorite shots by themselves. :)

Our trip to Washington DC's Cherry Blossom Festival began in a tour bus with three other groups from base. Because of some traffic we arrived later than planned, but still had some good time to tour the area and walk through the serene cherry blossom trees! We also managed in our 5 hours of time to see a glimpse of the Cherry Blossom parade. It was huge! There were so many people there it was hard to watch it and still be able to see everything else, but I got a couple shots of some floats. They moved so slow down the street thanks to the massive crowds. I also realized why all of a sudden I saw so many Japanese in this parade! Duh! Cherry Blossoms are a tree native to Japan! Silly me!

We happened to go at peak time for these trees which is an experience that we may never have again with how crowded it gets around this time. I was so concerned about missing these things, but God again made a way for us to enjoy the time spent here and see some once in a lifetime events.

I'm thrilled these photos turned out so well. Especially impressive with it being a simple iPhone 5c camera! The natural light on that thing is just gorgeous. :)

We visited several monuments and common tourist attractions. Unfortunately we could not go inside any of the museums due to our time limit. That will have to be for another time. :)
These are some of the museums we didn't get to go inside and see, but I think the buildings are a work of art themselves!
Artistic architecture is one of my l♥︎ves. These were taken inside the Lincoln Memorial. Perhaps the stained glass ceilings are a perspective that gets ignored in the shadows of the Lincoln statue popularity, but I noticed it! ;)
Isn't this mural just divine??!!

The view from the top of the Lincoln Memorial. It doesn't appear so, but there are at least 4 or 5 platforms to be walked down in addition to the set of stairs descending from the ground floor of the memorial.
AND  NOW PRESENTING THE STARS....

Cherry Blossom trees!

My favorite shots. ❤︎
As you can see we had such a refreshing and energetic time. We did TONS of walking and I got to see things I have longed to see since I was young. What a historical place to get to visit! So happy we got to bring our niece with us to experience it! We did not see the White House as it was in a different area altogether, but I'm sure we will come back at least once or twice more to tour some museums and perhaps stand in front of the gated White House. Till next time!
