It's so weird waking up this morning and not hearing a little knock on our bedroom door waking us up from sweet slumber at earlier hours than I'm used to. It's soooo quiet. No little girl asking questions, dancing, doing cartwheels and split combinations like 100 times a day.
No one to prepare an extra meal and snacks for. No one begging to be taken outside to the playground area next door. No more screaming every time a bee flies outside even if there's a screen between us. :P No more me having to insist homework be done every morning before play because once she starts playing it's over haha. AND no Hello Kitty and barbie houses constructed on my living room floor with blankets and play furniture.
We took her back home yesterday after church. It was bittersweet. Then spent some time with family afterwards till traffic cleared. We enjoyed the time we had with her and as I look through my phone and pull off pictures of our adventures, I came across some gems I forgot about!
Later in the week we had some pizza for dinner and after a very good day after our DC trip we munched on some chocolate chip cookies. All week we watched a lot of movies like every night after dinner! I haven't seen kids movies like that in awhile! Spring break does that to you I guess!
Gotta mention the night before our DC trip she bravely worked on a loose tooth and with a little help from Uncle Jason, we pulled that thing right out! She cried for a little bit, but was so relieved that it was gone. She even got a $1 for it! ;) You can see the empty space in the bottom right of her sweet smile in the below picture. :) The cookies were a great celebration of this too!
We invited our niece into nightly family devotions we have been doing for awhile now.
I just love the scene of this because it makes me think of our own future family and how Jason will be a good daddy spiritual leader with our kids one day. :)
Throughout the week we worked on a Resurrection week picture book project which she called "God's Love Book". She made a couple pages every day this week from a page of a heart of sin, to Palm Sunday, to the Resurrection. Complete with Bible passages and verses she can memorize as she reads it.
I bound it for her with gold pipe cleaner and covered it with some card stock I had laying around. I wish I would have taken a picture! I will work on seeing if one can be taken of the different pages. It turned out beautifully and her creative ways of making the scenes for each page showed her artistic talents. It truly was different playing "Mom" for the week. I've worked with kids a lot but having one in your own home that you take care of every day and night was an experience!
On our way down to drop her off we got a few more final goodbye pictures in the car. She makes the funniest faces!
That's a leftover palm leaf she found in the back seat. Yeah, we keep random palm leaves in our car around Easter, you know just in case a little girl would like to grab one and torture us with it...^_^
Oh to be a kid again....
Hope you had a fun filled week too!
Stay tuned for our Cherry Blossom DC Trip. :)
