A Colorful Update :)

8:14 AM

This week has been a challenge. Jason started TBS which means our sleep schedule, eating schedule, and my day and night schedule is all wonky! In trying to keep my mind occupied now that TBS has started, I have turned to this house. Since he's away long hours I have some time to focus on getting my house in order.

I have been desperately wanting to decorate this house before we have to move and get it done in a timely manner so I can enjoy it! I find when my environment is peaceful, I become peaceful too. Same thing with energy! I need energy! I've been learning that bright bold colors give me instant happiness and energy.

I've started first on our guest bathroom.

Some friends and I recently went to IKEA (my first time eva!) and picked up the brightest YELLOW towels I could find. I don't know why, but yellow has been instantly making me feel so happy and giddy inside! I am learning to go with what instantly makes me feel happy even if it's weird to someone else or just too much. If it makes ME feel great, then I need to go with it! Especially with colors. :)
The art at IKEA was even more fascinating to me than the stuff you buy! The displays were neat to see for inspiration too.

I tried to find a shower curtain to help tie in the YELLOW color, not quite having come up with a full theme yet....Didn't have much luck since we were abit rushed that day. I did find a few random things I needed though.

Anyway, I came home and this week started brainstorming. I know I need to pick up some bathroom rugs for both bathrooms. On the hunt for that today! I needed a color scheme first to know what color rugs to get.

Digging in the closet, I found Jason's NAVY BLUE shower curtain with what looked like paint on it. I decided to get frugal and try to use it as a temporary base. The stain I prepared to scrub out with natural ingredients ended up not being a bad stain at all! I still have no idea what it was. It came right out with some water and a little rubbing. THRILLED!

I began searching for some things to go with this base. The bright YELLOW towels looked AMAZING with the NAVY BLUE.  I also wanted some PINK just because it's making me insanely happy too hahaha. So I said "What the heck! Let's go with it!"

I searched the house for things PINK, YELLOW, and NAVY blue...

Found some bright PINK washcloths and a butter YELLOW one that seemed to work too. Grabbed some lotions, and candles that I was given by a friend of mine that fit PERFECT with the color scheme!

With some PINK tissue paper and a surprise fourth color that I think works wonders in giving me that excitement feeling. All I need is rugs and maybe some pictures on the wall eventually. :)

That totally is a repurposed tissue box! See the surprise fourth color? :D It looks red here, but it's not...

Don't you love wrinkled towels? Might need to do some pressing...

Those yellow straws are place holders for the yellow napkin flowers I'm going to make to put in that vase. :)

OKAY, so that surprise color would not edit the correct color back in for some reason. The color is ORANGE. It's showing up red, but it's a bright orange. Looks nothing like the pictures. You'll have to use your imagination!

I looked up on pinterest as I was really incorporating four colors in when usually you do like 3. Wanted to make sure I wasn't getting too crazy...

Then I found this...
Immediately put at ease. This a lovely palette. I would go with the more mustardy yellow, but it's too calm for me. I need bright and energized. I start out in the bathroom getting ready for the day and this would just put me in a relaxing lull where I want to go and curl up with my laptop and write. Not do anything. Not the purpose I'm going for! :D

When I get everything put together I'll take a picture of the whole bathroom. It may be absent of some wall art for now, but you'll get the idea!

Gotta go now and get ready for military spouse orientation! Thanks for tuning in! :)
