Talia and Emily
Remember the one whose refrigerator leaked water into our ceiling at the wee hours of the morning? Yes, that is how we met. You can read that story HERE.
Practicing our wifely culinary skills, we made a delicious alfredo casserole loaded with so many different kinds of cheeses! Mmm!

We also played with her kitten Talia, chatted about life and faith, and ended the evening watching Stardust (a movie we never finished..oh well!) while sipping some warm beverages.
I miss you guys!! *sad face*
As they were leaving, they needed someone to watch their kitty while they gallavanted off to the west on some wild adventures with family. Hehe..
So I became a kittysitter for a month! Talia was entering her teen years about then so we had a LIVELY eventful month haha.
What I learned from this experience:
Cats DO HAVE PERSONAL SPACE!
It would seem like one day she and I were best friends, but just as soon as I thought petting her would be an ok normal thing to do, she was my mortal enemy seeking to attack my arm, hands, and feet at any moment she could take.Saucer eyes.
The best way I can explain it is cats get really creepy saucer plate like eyes when they are feeling intensely playful, aggressive, threatened, or mischievous. Kinda wigs me out...haha...Scratching posts are mere trinkets and floor decorations:
They are supposed to keep kitties occupied so their little claws aren't scratching the heck out of furniture, BUT let's just say my couch got a new name: scratching post...Tortitude is a REAL thang.
I witnessed it with my own eyes. One day she'd be all cuddly and sweet and the next, you better step outta her way! This particular breed is one of the most aggressive ones I have met lol!We DID have a few precious moments where she decided to like me. I treasured those of course and took advantage of it..
Every chance I got I would soak in her cuddles and warmth when she WOULD let me haha.
Kitties are DEVOTED to their humans
She was a different cat when Emily came to pick her up. Like she KNEW what she was doing the whole month haha.Oh Talia, we sure did have our fun didn't we?
Talia's favorite places in our house:
- My couch of course especially the back of it where she would scratch away...
- Inside Jason's gym bag at the end of the day when he came home.
- The Inside of the box from Aldi.
- Behind the entertainment center, biting my cords just because...
- My lap while I was working. Awww...
- The dining room table which she managed to put scratches in from her claws. Good thing scotch tape exists!
- Behind the curtains in the bathroom and living room. She loved batting at me through them!
- In the kitchen while I was cooking.
- Under our bed when she managed to sneak in our bedroom.
- Inside the shower stall waiting for me to pull back the curtain so she could pounce.
Between a trip to the vet to get a claw trim and learning a successful method of removing urine smell from blankets and mysterious red spots from carpets, I think we did all right!
Aw, this is cute Bekah! You just love the kitties don't you lol!
ReplyDeleteOh you know I do even when they are high maintenance lol!
